Bio: Jena is a graduate of the Adhikara Yoga school which focuses on social justice, analyzing cultural appropriation, and a trauma-informed approach. They teach weekly Queer and Trans Yoga classes at the Survivor Arts Collective every Monday night at 7:15pm. We honor the 5,000 years of history and lineage of yoga that has come to us from South Asia by way of colonization and globalization. We acknowledge with humility, the privilege we have to practice asana, pranayama, and meditation. Commit to reflecting on your participation in cultural appropriation in the practice of yoga, check out Nisha Ahuja’s call to actions: http://www.decolonizingyoga.
